About

The Waterloo Fire Department was established as a professional department in 1904. Fourteen years later, firefighters joined departments from around the country as charter members of the inaugural International Association of Firefighters and were assigned Local 66.

Since our inception, we have fought and bargained for better working conditions, improved safety, and better benefits for the men and women of Local 66. As we have grown and adapted, we have taken on many endeavors including establishing a death benefit fund for members and their families. We have dedicated funds used to give cash and items to numerous charitable organizations throughout the year and hold our own charity events to benefit countless groups and individuals in the Cedar Valley.

As we continue to progress and adapt to our ever-changing environment, we will strive to ensure our members receive fair treatment, benefits, and a safe working environment so we can continue to provide high quality fire and emergency medical services to the citizens and visitors of Waterloo, Iowa.
